What is Mesotherapy?

Pioneered by the French physician Dr. Michel Pistor in 1952, Mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that is widely used in Europe to treat various injuries and medical conditions. This highly-specialized procedure targets problem areas with microinjections of conventional or homeopathic medicines, vitamins, minerals and amino acids. These tiny "medicinal bullets" are delivered directly into the dermal layer of the skin in and around the site being treated. Among its many applications, Mesotherapy can be used for the following:

• cellulite elimination
• reduction and elimination of wrinkles and fine lines in the skin
• elimination of localized fat deposits
• treatment of chronic pain

How does Mesotherapy treat wrinkles and fine lines?

As we age, we tend to lose the elasticity and resilience in our skin. Mesotherapy treatments infuse the skin with vitamins, homeopathics and anti-oxidants that revive the skin. Improvement in skin tone and texture can usually be seen immediately. This treatment is usually performed in a series of five to ten weekly treatments and then maintained by treatments every 4–6 months. This procedure can also be used to tone the breasts, arms, legs, and buttocks.

The effectiveness of Mesotherapy treatments can be greatly enhanced through diet, antioxidant therapy, and alternating treatments with cosmetic acupuncture and natural peel treatments. Dr. Shillington will generally assess the patient's particular skin type and health condition before recommending an optimal combination of therapies.
